On the Garmin website, those at home can then see where you are at that moment.
You can set the intervals to ten, twenty or thirty minutes, as well as hourly or even daily.
Manual setting is also an option.

Video on using the Garmin inReach mini

Below you can read the transcript of the video recorded by Henk-Jan Geel about the expedition materials.

‘one of the devices I take with me to show where I am that is this.
It is a garmin inreach and this is a kind of satellite transmitter a satellite tracker as you want to put it.
What this little device does is, it sends out a signal at set intervals and those go to the garmin website and there people from the home base who can then see exactly where I am.
Those intervals can be set to ten minutes, 20 minutes, half an hour, an hour or once a day or manually.
It happens automatically so I don’t have to do anything else about it. I have this carabine that hangs on my track belt with me so the transmitter is always close to me.
The great thing about this one inreach is also that you can combine it with your smartphone you can also send messages with it you can pre-program messages and then you can send them directly from the garmin inreach messages like I’m stopping here or everything is fine with me or I need help and speaking of help there is an SOS button on the side.
You can open those and the moment you push the button then an SOS signal goes off at the emergency service you have a subscription to and then they will initiate a rescue.
Of course, you only use that when you really need to, but the option is there.
So this garmin inreach always goes with me on the treks I do in arctic’
