Once again, corona measures have become stricter. We have to put up with it for now. Fortunately, it seems the second wave has peaked. One of the new measures is not to move abroad until mid-January 2021.

Traveling in corona time

Sweden has always been safe and open from the beginning of the corona crisis. I assume this will not change in the coming weeks, months. So for now, the expeditions in February are all going ahead as usual.

You can already book your expedition now and start preparing and training for this. You can cancel your participation free of charge up to 2 months before departure. No questions asked. Of course, we will not leave you out in the cold if you have booked a trip with us and the trip does not go ahead after all. Learn more about our measures on this page.

Keep moving

Whether or not you join us next winter, it’s good to keep moving. Working from home probably eliminated a (sizable) chunk of your daily exercise (biking to work, walking to the bus stop, walking at work). And big chance is that you will now have a cookie or something sweet with your coffee or tea more often. So I have some great tips for you to stay in shape.

Sports and fitness exercises

On my YouTube page you will find a playlist of some videos from the Dutch Mountain Sports Association. It is over 20 videos with exercises to improve, for example, your ankle stability or strengthen the strength in your upper legs. With these exercises you can do at home, you will prepare your body for movements that will come in handy during an expedition. But it’s also helpful for at home to become aware of how to move and move your body better/efficiently.

Sports with colleagues and friends

Exercising at home may not be as much fun, but if you’re in an app group with friends or colleagues, you can do a challenge with each other. Show each other what you do every day. Forward the workout you did to others to motivate them. Of course, you can also go for a walk during your break and then call a colleague video. That way, exercise becomes fun, too. And while walking, don’t forget to smile at the people you meet, which gives positive energy and motivation.

And should you lose your focus for a moment while working take a mini-break. Walk up and down those stairs ten times, do one minute of jumping jacks or grab a jump rope! That way you still get your daily exercise in a simple way.

Besides working on your condition and fitness, there are other ways you can prepare for an expedition. Namely, already thinking about the equipment you want to take with you on the expedition. Therefore, I have created a number of videos explaining the equipment and clothing you need.
