The simplicity of the Petzl Actik headlamp
In essence, the Petzl Actik headlamp does what an expedition lamp should do: provide illumination.
Especially for inside the tent, this headlamp offers more than enough light.
You can choose from several modes.
Special modes for brighter light, for example, but also for far distances.
You can choose either red or white light, with red light being known to be much less dazzling.
See the Northern Lights? Then you would do well to purchase this headlamp in advance.
This lamp will make your expedition trip to the Northern Lights a lot more enjoyable.
Maximum output of 450 lumens
The Petzl Actik headlamp is described as powerful and compact, which is often exactly what you’re looking for when you go on expeditions.
The lamp comes standard in the color black and has a maximum output of 450 lumens.
The lamp is known for its exceptional endurance.
Also, the headlamp is simple to use and very easy to operate, for experienced polar goers, as well as those who have not yet joined us on one of our expedition trips.
You can choose a variety of light beams with the Petzl Actik headlamp; either wide or focused.
Therefore, in practice, these lamps prove to be extremely suitable for all kinds of outdoor activities and expeditions.
In that context, consider mountain climbing, running and backpacking.
As stated, you have the choice of red or white light.
Red light is perfect for night vision and in addition, this light is barely noticed by animals.

The Petzl Actik headlamp meets the IPX4 standard
The Petzl Actik headlamp meets the IPX4 standard and is considered splashproof, which does not mean you can hold the lamp under water.
However, the lamp can withstand any rain or snowfall just fine.
The lamp can also be tilted into different positions.
This also makes it a pleasant reading lamp for the tent.
The illumination offered by the headlamp is certainly strong enough to properly illuminate up to a distance of 99 meters.
If you decide to opt for the lowest setting of 6 lumens, you can be sure that the headlamp will stay on for an incredibly long time.
In contrast, if you use the maximum 450 lumens, the maximum burn time is two hours.
By default, most people choose 100 lumens.
Then a maximum burn time of eight hours on average applies.
Enough for a long day of husky safari or cross-country skiing.
Standard with a battery!
Basically, this headlamp runs on three AAA batteries.
However, the battery is also rechargeable.
If you buy the Petzl Actik headlamp, it comes standard with a battery, a micro-USB cable and a headband.
So that means you can use the lamp immediately during the expedition trip.
With the Petzl Actik headlamp, you are buying a simple but highly functional lamp.
The lamp does exactly what you expect from a headlamp, and it is also very easy to use.
Not to mention the long burn time of the lamp, it can be called special to say the least!
Below you can read the transcript of the video recorded by Henk-Jan Geel about the expedition materials.
‘I want to tell you a little about the headlamp I’m taking with me.
That’s this one.
I have a headlamp of the Petzl brand, but there are dozens of brands and some are better, some are not as good.
I bought this one just because it is nice and simple.
You can’t do much with it.
It has a number of modes, light comes out, and that’s what matters to me.
It gets enough light out for inside the tent, but I can also turn it up a little bit brighter and then a lot of light comes out to generate light at far distances and there’s another red light in there so should I want to set up the tent at night times and not be blinded by white light I can use red light so a simple headlamp, movable, not too much, but this one always goes with me on arctic expeditions.’
