In the afternoon you will have time to explore the town on your own and visit the local museum about the mountains and the Sámi people. Or try the sauna in the guest house?
After dinner, we get dressed to look for the northern lights. A snowmobile takes you outside Jokkmokk where we have a warming fire and watch the sky, hoping to catch a glimpse of the northern lights.
The musher will pick you up from the guesthouse after breakfast and take you to their ranch just outside Jokkmokk. You’ll get to know their dogs and go on a dog sledding trip through the winter landscape around Jokkmokk.
In the afternoon, we visit Eva Gunnare. Eva is a local food connoisseur and she will introduce you to flavors of berries and plants from the area.
After breakfast, we set off in minivans in search of the great Sarek moose. Protected from the annual hunting season, the Sarek moose grow larger than other moose. In winter, they migrate to the forest area east of Sarek National Park, where they find food and protection from the harsh mountain conditions. We take you to some of the moose’s favorite spots.
