After three days of canoeing we pack our backpacks and walk back to our starting point.
With map and compass we find our way.
We walk part of the Skane members and Blekinge members.
Beautiful deciduous forest surrounds us on all sides.
We have lunch in the middle of nature. Just when we are hungry.
Make a campfire and take a dip in refreshing lakes.
We spend the night in a real Swedish “Vindskydd”.
An open wooden log cabin in the middle of nowhere.
At the end of the tour is the highlight.
We celebrate the traditional Midsommar together with the locals.
Exactly on the longest day of the year there is dancing and drinking.

Natural cultural introduction to Sweden.
Day 1
On your own you will come to the town of Olofström. This is in the south of Sweden in the province of Blekinge.
We will meet at 19:00 for a joint dinner. Dinner also includes the briefing for the rest of the week
Here’s how to get to Olofström by car, train or plane.
Day 2
Today we are going to start right away. In the morning, our canoes are ready to be launched. The rest of the day is all about paddling and enjoying. Wonderful that peace of rippling water against the bow of the canoe.
At the end of the day, we look for a desert island to pitch the tent. A campfire completes the day.
Day 3
After breaking camp we load up the canoe. A new day is ahead. Today we explore the lake system further. We just enjoy lunch along the shore. Including swimming, of course. This day also ends with a camp in nature and a campfire with homemade bread.
Day 4
In the morning, we break up to head north by canoe. Around noon, the canoes are picked up and we continue on foot. We walk several more kilometers on the Skåne trail. A beautiful hike through the Swedish wilderness and through fragrant deciduous forests.
Day 5
Today we continue our path. The Skåne trail gives way to the Blekinge trail. Sporadically we come across some cottages and always there is the view of the lakes. In the evening we end up at one of Sweden’s many wind shelters. Again, campfire. An almost recognizable ritual ;-)
Day 6
We are getting up a little earlier today. Today is an important day for the Swedes. It is midsommar afton. The day before midsommar. We walk the final kilometers back to Olofström. Here we join the festivities. Raising the midsommar tree. Flower wreaths in the hair. And the “obligatory” round of dancing around the midsommar tree. The festivities continue into the wee hours of the morning. No problem. This is the longest night of the year. Literally.
Day 7
Rest. That’s what we’re going to do today. We do that with a tour by car to Europe’s largest Runes circle. Extraordinary to think that people erected these stones here hundreds of years ago. In the afternoon, we visit a typical Swedish Fika restaurant. ‘Kaffe med bullar’ Coffee with some goodies is waiting for us. While enjoying all those goodies, look back on a crazy week full of discoveries and experiences.
Day 8
Well, we have to face it. Today you will drive back home on your own and at your own pace. You will find yourself driving slower. Maybe because you don’t want to leave. Maybe because you are fully rested. Whoever knows may say.

Preparation
We meet once before the trip. Live or digital. We pick the date by mutual agreement. Then we get to know each other. You’ll get an explanation of the materials and we’ll consider the map.
Equipment rental?
You can specify which equipment you would like to rent from us when you register. Tent, sleeping bag, mat, hiking poles or tent.
You can pick up these materials one week before the trip. This allows you to pack your backpack well before the trip.

During the Trip
Tours at Arctic Adventure are “Expedition Experiences. You experience what an expedition could be like. Sometimes spicy, sometimes easy. But always together.
We often sleep in tents. On summer trips, you can choose to bring your own tent. On winter treks, at least two people always sleep in a tent for safety reasons. Arctic Adventure regfelt the winter tents.
Moving, cooking and navigating we do together. The beauty of small groups is that there is always a real and good group feeling. Sometimes there are friendships and reunions years later.
We keep in touch with each other before (and often after) in a WhatsApp group.
Fitness
You don’t really need any special fitness for this hike. It’s nice if you can hike with a backpack on, though. Think about 10 kilometers a day with a 15-pound backpack. You must also be able to swim.
Sports Medical Examination

Safety
During the trek we are in fairly populated territory. In case of emergency, our position can always be reached by the rescue services.
The guide carries communication devices and both digital (GPS) and analog (Compass) navigation.
The guide has training in Wilderness Advanced First Aid and WGA I (Wilderness Guide Association)

Who Joins our Adventures?
Participants in our trips often sign up alone.
It happens that couples sign up.
The age of most participants is between 30 and 50 years.
There are certainly exceptions. The youngest participant was 23 and the oldest 66.
The male-female ratio is 50/50. The more challenging treks attract slightly more men. 60/40. But often the distribution is nicely balanced.

Travel dates

Departure
You will travel to Sweden on your own on June 20. 11 hours away by car.
We meet at 19:00 in a restaurant in southern Sweden. (Or elsewhere by arrangement)
Return
On the morning of June 27, you will travel back to the Netherlands on your own.
We consult among ourselves for a carpool to southern Sweden.
