Day 1: Start of the Adventure
You will meet the group at Scandinavian Mountains Airport in Sälen, Sweden. Or at the lodge in Särna, Sweden.
You will arrange the flight yourself. The cab is waiting for you and takes you to Gördalen in Sweden where the guide Marijke is waiting for you. In the afternoon, go over the material with Marijke and take a final look at the map. In the evening, there is a communal meal in the restaurant.
Day 2: The Wilderness Calls
With authentic wooden snowshoes on and sleds behind you, we start our trek. We navigated through the white world and set up our first camp in the snow.
Day 3: Living like Nomads
The journey continues through pristine landscapes. We follow animal tracks and spend the night in the wilderness again.
Day 4: Into the Heart of Nature
Today we meander further up Falufjället. On to the East. You learn survival and about life: making a campfire, building a tree stand. We sleep under the stars, in the middle of nature.
Day 5: Old Chikko’s Wisdom
A special day: we visit Old Chikko, the oldest tree in the world. We spend the night in the shadow of this century-old naturalist. It has been there for thousands of years. How many nomads has he seen pass him by?
Day 6: Silence and Serenity
We dedicate ourselves to silence, mindfulness and nature connection. This actually comes naturally in nature. You don’t have to do any special exercise for it. Nature provides a different context for things we consider important in society. Collaboration and sharing experiences are key. Our last night in the wilderness.
Day 7: Return and Reflection
The morning is like the other mornings. The routine is well established and we are ready in plenty of time for the last day in the snow. By late afternoon, we descend along a landscape of dense spruce forests to Gördalen. In the evening, there is finally that well-deserved shower. We eat at the restaurant and let ourselves be treated to the many flavors of this region. It’s bound to be a late night. Full of stories and experiences, we finally crawl into bed.
Day 8: Farewell to Sweden
In the early afternoon we will leave for Scandinavian Mountains Airport in Sälen. With memories full of adventure and connection.
These eight days at Arctic Nomads are a unique blend of adventure, learning and nature. An experience that will stay with you forever.
The above program can be modified without consultation if conditions, safety and logistics require it.

We meet once before the trip. This is done online via zoom or Google meets. We pick the date by mutual agreement. Then we get to know each other. You will be explained about the materials; Like the traditional moccasins, snowshoes and we will consider the map.
Tours at Arctic Adventure are “Expedition Experiences. You experience what an expedition could be like. Sometimes spicy, sometimes easy. But always together.
We sleep in a lavu, a traditional Swedish tent and bivouac under the trees or build an igloo or snow hole to sleep in. Moving, cooking and navigating we do together. The beauty of small groups is that there is always a real and good group feeling. Sometimes there are friendships and reunions years later.
We keep in touch with each other before (and often after) in a WhatsApp group.
This “Expedition Challenge” is a Red label expedition and challenging in nature. Good fitness is necessary. Depending on the weather, it can be a tough trip.
You don’t need to run a marathon. But assume that you should be able to walk 15 kilometers with a 15-kilo backpack at a normal pace, 15 days in a row.
Running 15 kilometers non-stop is also good. Do you have questions about this? Then contact the guide.
During the trip, there’s mainly physical stress on the knees and lower back.
Are you older than 55 and want to participate in this trip? Then we strongly advise you to have a sports medical examination performed. Read more about the possibilities here.
During the trip we are in uninhabited territory. In case of emergency, our position can always be reached by the rescue services with a snowmobile.
The guide carries communication devices and both digital (GPS) and analog (Compass) navigation.
The guide has training in Wilderness Advanced First Aid and WGA I (Wilderness Guide Association)
After your registration (or upon request) you’ll receive a detailed packing list.

The trip continues at 5 participants and is full at 7 participants.
For this trip, there are still plenty of spots available.
Participants in our trips often sign up alone.
It happens that couples sign up.
The age of most participants is between 30 and 50 years.
There are certainly exceptions. The youngest participant was 23 and the oldest 66.
The male-female ratio is 50/50. The more challenging treks attract slightly more men. 60/40. But often the distribution is nicely balanced.
