’Swedish Autumn’ during late summer Canoeing & Hiking trek
September 6 – 13, 2026
Olofström, Southern Sweden

On your own you will come to the small town of Olofström. This is in the south of Sweden in the province of Blekinge.
We will meet at 19:00 for a joint dinner. Dinner also includes the briefing for the rest of the week
Here’s how to get to Olofström by car, train or plane.
In the morning we prepare our canoes for departure. The day is all about paddling and enjoying the peace and beautiful nature. We explore the area by canoe and moor on uninhabited islands to pitch our tents. In the evening, we end the day with an atmospheric campfire.
After packing up our camp, we continue our canoe exploration of the lake system. During lunch we enjoy the waterfront and take a refreshing swim. At the end of the day, we again find a beautiful spot in nature to camp and bake our own bread over a campfire.
In the morning, we leave the canoes and continue north on foot. We can leave the non-essential luggage behind, as the canoe rental company will take it to our terminus. With a lighter backpack, we walk several kilometers along the Skåne Trail, surrounded by fragrant deciduous forests and the pristine Swedish wilderness.
We continue our hike, swapping the Skåne trail for the Blekinge trail. Along the way, we occasionally encounter cottages and enjoy breathtaking views of the lakes. In the evening we end up at one of Sweden’s many wind shelters. Once again we light a campfire and enjoy fellowship.
We walk quietly back to Olofström, with a lighter backpack and rolling landscapes around us. Upon arrival at the campground, a refreshing shower and a relaxing sauna await us. Also, the things we left behind earlier are here again. In the evening, we talk about the amazing week and enjoy a delicious dinner at a local restaurant, while enjoying a good glass of wine or a Swedish delicacy.
Today we will take time to relax and enjoy ourselves. We tour by car to Europe’s largest Runes circle and marvel at the ancient stones erected here. In the afternoon we visit a typical Swedish Fika restaurant where we enjoy coffee with delicious treats. We also taste apple pie and apple juice during the apple picking festival that takes place over the weekend.
Unfortunately, today it is time to say goodbye. On your own you will drive back home, but you will find yourself driving slower than usual. Perhaps because you don’t want to leave or because you are fully rested and relaxed. Whatever the reason, this adventurous canoeing and hiking trek in southern Sweden is sure to have left a lasting impression on you. With new skills and new friends on to new adventures.

Tours at Arctic Adventure are “Expedition Experiences. You experience what an expedition could be like. Sometimes spicy, sometimes easy. But always together.
We often sleep in tents. On summer trips, you can choose to bring your own tent. On winter treks, at least two people always sleep in a tent for safety reasons. Arctic Adventure regfelt the winter tents.
Moving, cooking and navigating we do together. The beauty of small groups is that there is always a real and good group feeling. Sometimes there are friendships and reunions years later.
We keep in touch with each other before (and often after) in a WhatsApp group.
You don’t really need any special fitness for this hike. It’s nice if you can hike with a backpack on, though. Think about 10 kilometers a day with a 15-pound backpack. You must also be able to swim.
