Guidance by coach and psychologist Bé van Lotringen.
Bé van Lotringen is a coach and psychologist with extensive experience in guiding leadership trails in the wild.
Before the trip, you will have a conversation with Bé van Lotringen to clarify your personal goals for the journey.
You do this with a comprehensive intake interview.
On your own you will come to the town of Olofström. This is in the south of Sweden in the province of Blekinge.
We will meet at 19:00 for a joint dinner. Dinner also includes the briefing for the rest of the week
Here’s how to get to Olofström by car, train or plane.
Today we are going to start right away. In the morning, our canoes are ready to be launched. The rest of the day is all about paddling and enjoying. Wonderful that peace of rippling water against the bow of the canoe.
At the end of the day, we look for a desert island to set up the tarp. A campfire completes the day.
You’ll learn all the skills needed for a great adventure in nature from the guide.
We sleep under a tarp. A sail you stretch, under which you sleep. Nice lightweight, nice and airy and nice and adventurous. You can hardly get closer to nature.
After breaking camp we load up the canoe. A new day is ahead. Today we explore the lake system further. We just enjoy lunch along the shore. Including swimming, of course. This day also ends with a camp in nature and a campfire with homemade bread.
Logging skills and campfire skills are on the program. Learn how to handle the tools safely and learn to make a nice warm fire. Obviously without matches or lighter….
In the morning, we break up to head north by canoe. After noon, the canoes are picked up and we continue on foot. Items we don’t need during the hike can be left behind. The canoe rental company then takes it for us. He delivers them to our terminus. So this way we can start the second part of the trek with a nice light backpack.
We walk several more kilometers on the Skåne trail. A beautiful hike through the Swedish wilderness and through fragrant deciduous forests.
Today we continue our path. The Skåne trail gives way to the Blekinge trail. Sporadically we come across some cottages and always there is the view of the lakes. In the evening we end up at one of Sweden’s many wind shelters. Again, campfire. An almost recognizable ritual ;-)
Navigating with map and compass is the skill the guide will focus on. So you can find your way in unfamiliar terrain.
Quietly we meander through the Swedish landscape. The backpack is already lighter and the landscape rolling. Today we walk quietly but surely back to Olofström. There at the campsite, a shower and, of course, a sauna await us. What is a trip to Sweden without this luxury. Also, the items you were able to drop off earlier are back here for you.
In the evening we talk about the gifted week. We do this at a local restaurant with a good glass of wine or Swedish delicacy.
Rest. That’s what we’re going to do today. Just settle down. We do that with a tour by car to Europe’s largest Runes circle. Extraordinary to think that people erected these stones here hundreds of years ago.
In the afternoon, we visit a typical Swedish Fika restaurant. ‘Kaffe med bullar’. Coffee with some goodies is waiting for us. While enjoying all those goodies, look back on a crazy week full of discoveries and experiences.
Well, we have to deal with it. Today you will drive back home on your own and at your own pace. You will find yourself driving slower. Maybe because you don’t want to leave. Maybe because you are fully rested. Whoever knows may say.

We meet once before the trip. Live or digital. We pick the date by mutual agreement. Then we get to know each other. You’ll get an explanation of the materials and we’ll consider the map.
You can specify which equipment you would like to rent from us when you register. Tent, sleeping bag, mat, hiking poles or tent.
You can pick up these materials a week before the trip. This allows you to pack your backpack well before the trip.
This package includes:
✔ Backpack by Lowe Alpine
✔ Sleeping bag by RAB
✔ Sleeping pad by Therm-a-Rest
✔ Tent (2 or 1 person)
✔ Pair of hiking poles
The cost of this complete package is only €149 for the entire trip.
Tours with Arctic Adventure are Expedition Experiences. You experience what an expedition could be like. Sometimes spicy, sometimes easy. But always together.
We often sleep in tents. On summer trips, you can choose to bring your own tent. On winter treks, at least two people always sleep in a tent for safety reasons. Arctic Adventure provides the winter tents.
We move, cook, and navigate together. The beauty of small groups is that there is always a real and good group feeling. Sometimes there are friendships and reunions years later.
We keep in touch with each other before (and often after) in a WhatsApp group.
You don’t really need any special fitness for this hike. It’s nice if you can hike with a backpack on, though. Think about 10 kilometers a day with a 15-pound backpack. You must also be able to swim.
Are you over 60 and want to participate in this tour? If so, we highly recommend you get a sports medical examination. Read more about the possibilities here.
During the trek we are in fairly populated territory. In case of emergency, our position can always be reached by the rescue services.
The guide has communication equipment and both digital (GPS) and analog (compass) navigation.
The guide is trained in Wilderness Advanced First Aid and WGA I (Wilderness Guide Association)
After your registration (or upon request) you’ll receive a detailed packing list.
