A tough day in Greenland
Today in Greenland, the expedition team experienced one of the toughest days yet. It all started when they woke up this morning and discovered that it had snowed all night. There was as much as 30 inches of fresh snow on the grounds and it was overcast.
Navigating in a whiteout
Throughout the day, they had to navigate in a complete whiteout. This meant that visibility was so poor that it felt like they were navigating the inside of a milk carton. It was a challenge to move forward, but fortunately they had a little wind diagonally behind them to guide them. The person who walked first led the rest of the group through the landscape even though he or she was actually blind. They only had a pennant on a ski pole to know where the wind was coming from.
Tough conditions
It was an exhausting day where they had to constantly meander and meander through the landscape. They had to plow themselves forward through the heavy snow and occasionally pull on the front end to get their sleds forward as well. In addition, the temperature had risen, melting the snow and getting all the gear wet that was not properly wrapped in plastic. It was an uncomfortable and annoying situation.
A disappointing distance
After a long day of work, they had covered only about 13 kilometers. This was not the result they had hoped for, as they had actually wanted to reach 17 to 18 kilometers. It was clear that conditions were playing tricks on them and that it was a tough expedition.
Forecasts for the next few days
The outlook for the next few days is not much better. More snow is forecast and it will continue to snow all day. This means that the 40 inches of snow that have fallen so far may become more. In addition, storms are forecast for Saturday and Sunday. These are all factors that do not positively affect the atmosphere and occupy the team.
Working together in challenging circumstances
Despite the difficulties and setbacks, the expedition team realizes that they are all in the same boat. They have to do it together and adapt to the weather and conditions. Although the finish line still seems far away, they remain positive and determined to bring the expedition to a successful conclusion.
Conclusion
The expedition in Greenland faces harsh conditions, including heavy snowfall and a lack of visibility. Despite these challenges, the team remains determined and works together to complete the expedition. However, with more snow and an approaching storm on the horizon, they will have to overcome many obstacles before reaching their goal.
