Are you ready for an adventure of a lifetime? An adventure that will push your limits and introduce you to Europe’s most remote and untouched wilderness?
The Sarek Endurance is not just any trek; it is Arctic Adventure’s ultimate Black Label expedition.
Prepare for 15 days of pure adventure. We cover more than 200 kilometers on skis. We climb Sweden’s highest mountain, Kebnekaise and we traverse the immense wilderness of Sarek.
That’s, in a pinch, the Sarek Endurance. In 15 days, a true black label expedition. Not for wimps. But for the seasoned adventurer who can appreciate just that extra incentive.
Day 1: Arrival in Kiruna, Sweden
We gather in the heart of Lapland, Kiruna. You arrange your own travel to Kiruna; you can choose a flight, train or your own car. Upon arrival, we will meet at Malmfältens restaurant for a welcome lunch. After lunch we travel to the Sami settlement of Nikkaluokta, located at the foot of the Kebnekaise massif. In the evening we will discuss the final materials and you will receive a safety briefing. We are ready for the great adventure.
Day 2: Ascent of Kebnekaise
Accompanied by an additional local guide, we will make the challenging ascent of Kebnekaise, Sweden’s highest mountain. This is a great adventure even if you have no climbing experience. Atop the South Summit, breathtaking views await.
Attention! If we can’t reach the summit because of bad weather, we have to keep going. There is no additional option to reach the summit due to the distance we have to travel with the trek. In that case, we will try to climb Sarek’s highest peak, Sarektjåkkå. 2089 meters high.
Day 3-13: Traversing Sarek
The next 11 days are filled with traversing the Sarek wilderness, the largest and most remote area in Europe. On skis, we move through a wonderfully white world. Along the way we visit the inaccessibility point, the most remote point in Europe. There is no path here. So that path, we make it ourselves. The route is ours and only the weather can stop us. We sleep eleven nights in expedition tents. A real expedition that few will imitate you.
Day 14: Arrival in Sulitjelma, Norway
We slowly leave the wilderness behind and reach Sulitjelma on the Norwegian border. Here a cab awaits us to take us to Bodø. After days in the cold, there is time for relaxation: a hot shower and a well-deserved sauna.
Day 15: Return home
After a final breakfast together, it is time to say goodbye. The cab will take us to Bodø airport. We return home, tired but fulfilled, with memories that will last a lifetime.
For this expedition, we provide you with the complete winter equipment. Think skis, snowshoes, sleeping bags and tents. Together with your team, you will brave the elements and enjoy the rugged beauty of Lapland. This adventure is not for wimps, but for seasoned adventurers looking for just that extra incentive.
Are you ready for this challenge? Join the Sarek Endurance and experience an adventure you will never forget. Register now and be part of this unforgettable Black Label expedition in Lapland.
Together we make memories that will last a lifetime.

We meet at least once before the trip. Preferably live. But otherwise digitally. We do this in person as a group at a convenient location. We will pick the date and location by mutual agreement. Then we get to know each other. You’ll get an explanation of the materials and we’ll consider the map. With tea and coffee we will discuss the trip and let you get acquainted and practice with the group materials.
Tours at Arctic Adventure are “Expedition Experiences. You experience what an expedition could be like. Sometimes spicy, sometimes easy. But always together.
We sleep in tents. You do this with someone else (or your partner) from the group. On summer trips, you can choose to bring your own tent. So then you can also sleep alone. On winter trips, at least two people always sleep in a tent for safety reasons.
Moving, cooking and navigating are done together. The beauty of small groups is that there is always a real and good group feeling. Sometimes there are friendships and reunions years later.
We keep in touch with each other before (and often after) in a WhatsApp group.
To participate in Black Label tours, you must have done at least one Red Label tour in winter or similar.
Before your participation is approved, the guide will be in touch with you to gauge your experience.
This “Expedition Major” is a Black label expedition and extremely challenging in scope. Good fitness is necessary. Depending on the weather, it could be a spirited ride.
You don’t have to run a marathon. But assume you should be able to run 20 kilometers with a 20-kilogram backpack at a normal pace, 20 days in a row.
20 Kilometers of continuous running is also good. Do you have any questions about this? If so, please contact Henk-Jan Geel or Onno de Boer.
During the tour, there is mainly physical stress on the knees and lower back.
The trek can also be mentally challenging. Being able to challenge yourself in that area is definitely a plus. The guide will return to this in preparation.
Are you over 55 and want to be a participant in this tour? If so, we recommend you get a sports medical examination. Read more about the possibilities here.
During the trip we are in uninhabited territory. In case of an emergency, our position can always be reached by rescue services by snowmobile or helicopter.
The guide carries communication devices and both digital (GPS) and analog (Compass) navigation.
The guide is certified in Wilderness Advanced First Aid, Arctic Survival and WGA II Arctic (Wilderness Guide Association)
After your registration (or upon request) you’ll receive a detailed packing list. Please note that equipment may incur additional costs.
Do you want to read more (everything) about cross-country skiing? Because that’s what we’ll be doing during this expedition. Then read it on the site of toerlanglauftochten.nl.
During the trek we will be supported from basecamp from the Netherlands. The guide is in daily contact with the base camp manager. This is also the first point of contact for home visitors.
