After packing up our tent early in the morning, we head into the Fagradalsfjall valley.<br \/>\nWe won&#8217;t be the only ones walking here now. Iceland&#8217;s premier attraction has come to life here. More impressive than the supporters of the Icelandic soccer team, more exuberant than the singer Bj\u00f6rk. We are face to face with a real volcano in its full glory.<br \/>\nWe take all day to enjoy this spectacle.<br \/>\nThis volcano came to life in 2021 and in 2022. The traces of the recent eruption are clearly visible in the jet-black lava field.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The penultimate day <\/strong>we settle down. Because the last kilometers of our trip lead ns to the Blue Lagoon.<br \/>\nA natural hotspring where we indulge in the thermal bath. So the first day is mostly about flying to Iceland. Here we will arrive at around 3:30 p.m. local time.<br \/>\nCheck into the hotel and go out for dinner. That&#8217;s what we&#8217;re going to do that night.<\/p>\n<h3>Day 2<\/h3>\n<p>Today we will explore Iceland&#8217;s capital city, Reykjavik. Here we go to the Icelandic National Museum. A wonderful opportunity to immerse yourself in Iceland&#8217;s history and culture. A good start to a week of impressions and experiences.<br \/>\nWe eat lunch at a traditional Icelandic lunch restaurant. Think salmon, rye bread and Skyr. In the afternoon you are free to walk around Reykjavik. Over dinner, we go over the final things for the trip ahead.<\/p>\n<h3>Day 3<\/h3>\n<p>On Tuesday, a cab will be waiting for us in the morning to take us to the starting point of our trek.<br \/>\nHanging up and heading south.<\/p>\n<h3>Day 4-6<\/h3>\n<p>During 5 days we walk alternately through lava fields. About volcanic landscape and about the great divide that separates Europe and America. We encounter the occasional stream or lake to replenish our water supply. And always there is that red glow in the sky in front of us. That is our goal. The Fagradalsfjall volcano. This one gives the whole region a red glow at night from the boiling lava.<br \/>\nThe last three days we have to bring water. We will no longer encounter water sources. So think about this when packing your backpack. The lighter the better&#8230;.<\/p>\n<h3>Day 7<\/h3>\n<p>On Saturday. After packing up our tent early in the morning, we headed into the Fagradalsfjall valley. We won&#8217;t be the only ones walking here now. Iceland&#8217;s premier attraction has come to life here. More impressive than the supporters of the Icelandic soccer team, more exuberant than the singer Bj\u00f6rk. We are face to face with a real volcano in its full glory.<br \/>\nWe take all day to enjoy this spectacle. This volcano erupted in 2021 and in 2022. Chances are that the volcano is now no longer active. It is still nature that dictates.<\/p>\n<h3>Day 8<\/h3>\n<p>Sunday we come to rest. Because the last kilometers of our trip lead ns to the Blue Lagoon. A natural hotspring where we indulge in the thermal bath. We have earned it.<br \/>\nIn the afternoon, a cab is waiting for us here to take us to Keflavik. The last night you can recover in a real bed and we eat our last meal together in a good Icelandic restaurant.<\/p>\n<h3>Day 9<\/h3>\n<p>Monday in the morning, a cab will take you to the airport or to Reykjavik.
